In the vineyard…
WInter has arrived and pruning is under way. Pruning will continue until about the end of August by which time all post pruning cleaning up should be finished. The pace of pruning is dictated by the weather (rain = no pruning!). Then we await the beginning of another season in September....
And the wines…
Our 2008 sauvignon blanc, which was released in February 2009, is now sold out.
Our 2009 sauvignon blanc is released and is now our current vintage. This was a very small vintage due to the hot, dry weather. We are hoping that our 2010 sauvignon blanc will be ready for release later this year due to the early harvest.
We added a rosé to our range in 2008 and due to its popularity we followed up with a 2009 rosé which was released in November 2009. It is made from early harvested merlot and shiraz grapes grapes and is another good wine for accompanying casual summertime repast. Due to our need to retain our merlot fruit for red table wine this vintage we are not producing a 2010 rosé. We have limited distribution of the 2009 rosé so that it will be available until 2011.
We released our 2006 Merlot in February 2009 and now have about 3 months' supply left. The fruit and oak flavours are well integrated and the wine has developed smooth, robust flavours and good mouthfeel. A very complex wine. This merlot will continue to develop for some years yet. Well received by the public and awarded a GOLD medal at the 2009 Federation Square Regional Showcase wine judging. It was amongst the TOP 3 Victorian merlots in the finals awards.
Our 2005 shiraz
is now sold out and we released the 2006 vintage in June 2010. This wine has now developed similar complexity to the 2005 vintage with 2 years' bottle age and has received good early acceptance by the public.
Our 2007 shiraz is developing well in the bottle and will continue to do so for the next 12-18 months.
We are looking forward to bottling our 2008 merlot and shiraz soon. They have developed well in barrels and are now ready for bottling.
